NEWS22 January 2007 – Rose Society and Herts Advertiser launch photo competitionKeen photographers will get the chance to express their talent over the coming year through the Royal National Rose Society Gardens Photography Competition 2007, organised by the Chiswell Green-based Society and the Herts Advertiser. For the remainder of January, and then in the third week of each month, photographers are invited to bring their equipment to the Society Gardens and help build a library of imagery showing the Gardens at their very best throughout the year. Each month's winning image will be published in the Herts Advertiser and on the Society website, with the photographer winning a voucher worth 100 prints at the St Albans branch of Jessops, while the runner up will receive a voucher worth 50 prints. At the end of the year, the overall winner will receive £250. A selection of the very best pictures – not just the winners – will be placed on the Royal National Rose Society website. The Society will also use images in its promotional material leading up to the re-opening of the Gardens in June and beyond. Richard Adams, chief executive of the Royal National Rose Society said: "I am delighted to invite photographers to our Gardens to capture them as they come to life up to and beyond our re-opening in June. They are a place of real beauty and each month will offer photographers different challenge and enable entrants to demonstrate their abilities under different conditions. I am certain we will secure an outstanding record of the development of the Gardens." The judges will be Richard Adams and Herts Advertiser photographer. Entrants should call the Society office – 01727 850 461 – to arrange access, and should note that access outside normal office hours will require greater notice. Entries may be digital or print, with prints sent to the Herts Advertiser office and clearly marked ROSE SOCIETY PHOTO COMPETITION and digital imagery sent to *The judges decision is final - no correspondence will be entered into. Open to all, except employees of the Herts Advertiser, the Society and their contractors. 2. Judge's decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into. 3. No cash alternative for the monthly prize. 4. Intellectual property resides with entrant, but Society retains licence to use for its own promotion. 5. Photos to be submitted within 7 days of shoot.
