NEWS17 August 2007 – Miniature Show Returns to St AlbansWithout too much fuss or fanfare the Show for Miniature Roses returned to it's rightful home at the newly opened Gardens of the Rose, the Society's HQ at St Albans. The appalling weather in the weeks preceding the show caused the organisers great concern as a show with no roses is, of course, no show at all. Fears were set aside as the exhibitors, although fairly few in number, staged a show worthy of the occasion. Visitor numbers since the re-opening have been very encouraging and this week-end was no exception as a steady flow of visitors came and wondered at the roses on show. Many of the exhibits were so clean and undamaged that they belied the fact that these were roses grown in the open during the wettest summer that any of us can remember! President Ann Bird, who seems to have spend most of her waking hours at the gardens this year, was once again in attendance to present the awards to their worthy recipients. A full list of winners and awards will follow shortly but until then here are a few images from the show.
